Students work in a large group, then in various groupings with parents. Performance is grouped according to instrument type.
Parent or Family Role
Depending on their comfort level, parents may be involved in the design of the homemade drums. They will help locate an objectâfrom a list generated in classâthat can be repurposed. Parents can help in design (aligning with mathematics standards), drawing a schematic of the drum with the measurements. Their success in doing this will vary from one parent to another. Absolute standards of quality are not so important as their interest and enthusiastic involvement in the project.
